PPS Safe Routes To School

West Sylvan Middle School Traffic Circulation

In partnership with PPS’s Transportation and Safe Routes to School teams, our school has been working to improve traffic circulation and student safety during arrival and dismissal. Their teams visited our campus to observe traffic patterns and, with school administration, developed the following circulation map and recommended changes to help improve traffic flow and create a safer environment for students and families during peak travel times.

Key Changes

● When dropping off and picking-up students in the parking lot loop, only use the center lane. The lane closest to the school is for school buses, and the lane closest to the center island is a fire lane. No vehicles should drive or be stopped in the fire lane.

● When leaving campus, we recommend taking a right out of the parking lot onto West Slope Dr, then heading south on 81st Ave to take Valley View Dr to Canyon Ln. This intersection has a light, and will help alleviate congestion when entering/exiting the school on West Slope Dr.

● If your student is not outside when you arrive to campus, please keep traffic flowing- loop your vehicle around again, or park on a nearby street and have your student walk to your vehicle.
